1. Nigerian Canadian Multicultural Centre (NCMC) is a not-for-profit organization in Etobicoke Centre (Toronto) that aims to enhance the social, economic, and mental health development of the members of Etobicoke Centre and the GTA.
2. We organized orientation programs for new immigrants (information is the key to a quick and successful integration) include information sessions, foreign credential validation program, assisting and empowering new immigrants to establish micro-scale enterprises, and other new immigrant-related settlement services.
3. To provide mental health promotion and awareness for our clients in the GTA. We advocate for equitable (culturally competent) services. NCMC will collaborate with other mental health organizations and professionals to meet our strategy to boost mental health awareness and the well-being of our community members, especially vulnerable groups.
4. To provide cultural-oriented programs (festivals), social justice, and inclusion events aim to strengthen Canadian multiculturalism and ethnic pluralism and address gender equity. e.g., Black History Month events, women’s empowerment events, and other equity-based events and seminars that focus on mitigating different forms of discrimination and promoting Canadian cultural diversity, fairness, and equality in Canada.
5. To advocate for affordable housing in the GTA. The issue of housing, especially the drastic rising of housing cost, has become the root of poverty among vulnerable and low-income community members in the GTA.
6. To advocate for improvements in housing law and policies in Canada and to create access to adequate and affordable housing that meets the needs of low-income individuals and families and reduces poverty, which often stems from housing issues in Toronto.
